Although it took two Sunday’s worth of auditions, the summer production of West Side Story has been fully cast and rehearsals are already underway. Putting on a musical involving some of the vocally most difficult songs in the musical theatre repertoire is no easy task, which is why Rhodes Artistic Producer and show director Phil Dale, choreographer Katie Barker-Dale and musical director Will Joy wanted to make sure they had exactly the right people for the job.   A dance duet between a young dance teacher and one of her pupils who bear an uncanny resemblance to one another proved to be the winning act on a highly competitive yet enjoyable night at Rhodes. Twenty Four acts performed throughout the evening and each was assessed by the panel of four judges comprising of West End performer Kate Coysten; Head of Music from the prestigious LAMDA Rob Archibald; professional choreographer Sam Spencer-Lane and Amy DeRosa from main sponsors DeRosa Music. This month…..a mystery object

June’s blog is more of a question than anything else. The museum has a significant collection of material which is currently not on display in the museum, but held in store. Volunteers at the museum are currently cataloguing the thousands of objects held in store and they are creating a complete inventory, which will make it easier for people in the future to access the objects and documents we hold. This is a fascinating but sometimes challenging job…..and sometimes something unexpected and outside our experience turns up, and so to our question.
