Description

Primary Drama introduces children to the basic principles of acting in a light-hearted and accessible manner. It teaches the importance of concentration but uses a combination of games and exercises to encourage enjoyment and confidence in the children. The younger classes use play and role-play to explore the different ways we can communicate with others. The older classes move on to explore the techniques important to perform to an audience; engagement, empathy and clarity. In all classes, the children will gain confidence, make new friends and improve their ability to communicate.

In order to succeed in this industry, not only do young people need to develop the necessary skills but they also need opportunities to use those skills and express themselves via performance. We offer more performance opportunities than any other school in the region; whether it is our annual drama showcase or our annual musical theatre showcase; and the full scale musicals and pantomimes that are produced by Phoenix Theatre Arts, the production wing of the company. A great archive of pictures from past events can be found on our Facebook page.

Visit our website for details on classes and how to register.
