Phoenix Theatre School: Senior Drama

1st January 2014

7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Senior Drama classes focus more on the individual as an actor, however, ensemble work still plays a large part in exploration. Students look at how they can develop their theatre skills and understanding of communicating to an audience. We explore the specific techniques of practitioners such as Laban and Stanislavski as well as exploring different genres such as Verbatim and physical theatre. We continue to work on improving speech, movement and posture, which we believe are essential for our students in the way they communicate in life. Students take personal responsibility for rising to the challenges offered, whilst always being encouraging of others.

In order to succeed in this industry, not only do young people need to develop the necessary skills but they also need opportunities to use those skills and express themselves via performance. We offer more performance opportunities than any other school in the region; whether it is our annual drama showcase or our annual musical theatre showcase; and the full scale musicals and pantomimes that are produced by Phoenix Theatre Arts, the production wing of the company. A great archive of pictures from past events can be found on our Facebook page.
